Pastor John Kim

Describe what you do at Good Shepherd:

As   Pastor of Korean congregation, I believe in God and the Trinity, and that Christ is the Son of God.  I believe that Scripture is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit, and its truth is continually ministering to believers today.  Based on this belief, I share these truths with people who have doubts or questions regarding these matters and Christianity in my congregations and local resident of Korean community.

Also I enjoy planning events and services for local resident of Korean community so that people may get our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tell us a story of how you have seen God moving through your ministry:

I have seen through my ministry it is to lead people to be close to Him and grow in their knowledge and faith in Christ as they continue walk with God.

My favorite team is: The Los Angeles Dodgers Blue!

My favorite spot in Downey is: Stonewood mall.

Favorite Bible verse / Life Verse: Romans 8:28

28 And we know that to them that love God [n]all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.

“We know that all things” (both good and bad, pleasant and unpleasant – everything – and that includes every person) “works together for the best” (as it’s written in the strongest translation, and that is the most accurate), “for those who love God.” Everything that we meet in life, everything, without exception, works together for our best.

Favorite quote:

“The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, 'O God, forgive me,' or 'Help me.'” –Billy Graham
